This past Saturday, Heartwood hosted its third annual Heartwood 5K—a run with purpose, pride, and plenty of community spirit. Held in partnership with Richmond Hill High School Cross Country and Track & Field program this year, the event kicked off the inaugural Richmond Hill Invitational, which brought 294 student runners from across the region to the brand-new high school campus. Notably, both Richmond Hill High School and Richmond Hill Middle School squads won all four races!

As the sun rosel, participants took off across the new campus and around the track—symbolizing both the start of the race and the beginning of a new era for Richmond Hill athletics.

Heartwood presented a $14,000 check to the Richmond Hill Cross Country and Track & Field team to support the Miler Club, a countywide initiative that promotes youth fitness and a lifelong love of movement. The Miler Club has chapters at every Bryan County school and encourages students to stay active through running, jogging, or walking during school hours.

“It was an exceptional morning for such a great cause,” said Paige Glazer, Real Estate Development Manager at Heartwood. “The Miler Club touches each and every one of our young students. Heartwood is a health-forward community, and thanks to our sponsors—especially St. Joseph’s/Candler’s Bē Health program—we were able to give this program a healthy infusion to support their goals and empower our youth to learn to love exercise.”

“I am so grateful,” added Levi Sybert, Head Coach of Richmond Hill Cross Country and Track & Field team. “This will truly make a difference in the health and well-being of so many kids’ lives for years to come. This event set the stage for some amazing hosting opportunities for the coming years.”

With momentum building, organizers plan to expand the race next year to include a 10K option, giving even more runners the chance to lace up for local schools. Next year’s race is scheduled for October 17, 2026.
